I am a Masters qualified Speech-Language Pathologist working in Sechelt, B.C., specializing in the treatment of children with speech, language and learning difficulties. I believe in the importance of a holistic approach to intervention, involving parents, siblings, caregivers, and other professionals in the therapeutic process. My approach is one centered on creating a fun and engaging learning environment, where your child is given the opportunity to use their communication skills spontaneously and creatively!

Services


Center-Based Intervention
Speech & Language Therapy sessions are typically conducted 1:1 and include 45 minutes of direct intervention and 5-15 minutes of discussion with the family to review your child's progress and goals. Each child is unique and will receive a customized intervention plan, and families will be provided with carryover activities and goals.
Therapy is typically structured in blocks of 4-6 weeks, in order to provide achievable goals and to allow for regular re-evaluation of your child's progress.


Home & School Services
For individuals who are unable to attend at my office (e.g. for scheduling, medical or other reasons), home or school-based sessions can be a helpful alternative. When sessions are conducted in the home, children have the benefit of being in a familiar and comforting environment, and seeing the therapist in this safe space can help build a rapport.
When a home or school-based session has been scheduled, parents are asked to provide a quiet and distraction free room or area and you may be asked to keep certain toys or reinforcers separate, to be used exclusively in these sessions.

Assessments & Reports
Assessment is always the first step in the therapeutic process and will be scheduled prior to any intervention. Additionally, some families may wish to have their child assessed without receiving any intervention (e.g. to re-assess progress following intervention elsewhere, to verify that their child's skills are in line with those of their peers, or to gather information prior to relocating).
Assessments, reports, and home/school programmes can be provided at any time and are billed at an hourly rate, in 15 minute increments. As not all families require a report and would prefer for the therapist to focus solely on intervention, reports are not included in the assessment process but are available upon request.
